About Hans Kelson
Hans arrived in Monroe County at 3 months of age, and has lived in Benton Township ever since. As a child he was homeschooled, and thrived on the opportunities that gave him to pursue his interests, interact with people of all ages, take initiative, and become deeply involved in the community.
Through participation in the Unitarian Universalist Church, Hans has attended the Midwest Leadership School, served on the board of directors, and is now a member of the UUA MidAmerica Regional Board. He is an active member of Bloominglabs, and has volunteered for the Brown County Humane Society for several years.
Hans’ interest in government began at age 12 when he stayed up far past his bedtime watching the votes come in for the 2012 presidential election. He was further inspired to take action seeing the inaction and obstruction that occurred afterwards. Since then, he has attended a training and lobbied congressmen in DC on issues of climate change and pollution, and worked with local groups on the same issues.
Hans brings a fresh voice to the local political scene. He is a creative problem solver intent on listening to all perspectives and committed to maintaining a high quality of life for all township residents. He enjoys helping others and is generous with his time.
Hans is currently employed by the City of Bloomington and the Unitarian Universalist Church, performing tech support and A/V work.
